Therapy that is playful, grounded, and growth oriented.

What we do…

Texas Trails provides therapy services to kids, teens, young adults, and parents who are looking for relief from tough symptoms, who need help navigating in-home or in-school struggles, who need a space to process and heal from traumatic experiences, or those who want to work on understanding and connecting with one another. We specialize in working with family and life transitions, trauma recovery, parenting skills, and group based learning and processing. Take a look at our Services page to learn more about the different therapy options we offer!

If you’re looking to connect with someone about your experiences, to support your child’s growth, or to receive the support of a group setting, Texas Trails can help.

Hi! I’m Sarah. It’s great to meet you.

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Registered Play Therapist™ in Austin, Texas. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Child and Family Development from Georgia Southern University and my Master's of Clinical Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin.

With children and teens, I believe in focusing dually on both the client and the family, employing play-based interventions to help clients understand their experiences and environments, and helping initiate change. When working with adults individually, I am passionate about helping them to understand family dynamics with a trauma informed perspective. In parent coaching, I emphasize attachment-based learning opportunities and offer practical tools for use at home and in school.

I have experience working with children, teens, families, and parents living with developmental disorders and delays, emotional dysregulation, outbursts, developmental trauma, tough family situations, big life transitions, and those working with the foster and adoption systems.

Theory & Practice

My practice is built on my knowledge of child and family development, Attachment Theory, and Interpersonal Neurobiology (IPNB). Attachment Theory examines the way that our relationships across the lifespan inform our emotional regulation, sense of self and safety, and ability to develop healthily. IPNB looks at the way that the body and brain respond to relationships, stress, and trauma and harnesses the power of the nervous system to spark change.

I use multiple Play Therapy interventions, including Child Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, Solutions-Focused, Sand Tray, coping skills and emotional literacy work, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, and Therapeutic Parent Coaching for clients across the lifespan. I’m excited to be offering these tried and true interventions both online and outdoors where we can integrate eco-therapy and connection to the outdoors!
